The cushion is carried clear of the floor with open air beneath it, air moving freely around their rest all day, fresh and light, never stale.

The side sleeves carry the cushion edge to edge on the dowels, so it never slides or bunches: nothing to straighten, ever.

Shipping & assembly

ELARA arrives flat, with everything needed to bring it to shape, allen key included. You build the frame first: the two I-frames joined by the small dowels, bolted square with the four screws. Then the carrying dowels slide through the cushion's side sleeves, and the cushion lowers onto the frame, each dowel settling into its cradle. A few quiet minutes, and ELARA is standing. Materials & care

Baltic birch plywood with the laminations left visible and smooth solid dowels, built by hand in our Cairo workshop. The cushion is a 3 cm microfiber core in a removable linen cushion cover that slides off to wash: machine-wash cold, air-dry and reinsert. Wipe the frame with a soft, damp cloth and keep it from sitting in water.

ELARA also takes custom orders. If you have a particular size, finish or proportion in mind, write to us before ordering and we will shape a piece around your home and your Companion. Custom pieces are made to order, with timeline and shipping confirmed with you before work begins.

The piece

The cushion in the air.

Two birch frames stand at either end, a dowel runs through each side sleeve, and the cushion hangs between them in open air. When a Companion settles, it takes their shape and holds it, steady on the dowels, lifted clear of the floor, air moving beneath them all day.

Most rest pieces sit on the floor. ELARA carries the cushion in the air and lets it answer the body it brings to rest. A Sling piece, the lightest way to sleep.
