Good health is quiet work, done a little at a time. PawLuxe is drawn by a veterinarian, and the same care that shapes a piece shapes how we think about keeping a Companion well. Below is the preventive routine that keeps a dog comfortable and protected, in plain language.

Deworming

Intestinal worms (roundworm, hookworm, tapeworm, whipworm) are common, and puppies are most at risk. They bring poor condition, digestive upset and a pot-bellied look, and some pass to people, children especially. Puppies are wormed often in the first weeks; most adult dogs, every three months. Note that a standard wormer does not cover heartworm. That is prevented separately.

Parasite prevention

Fleas, ticks and mites on the outside, and heartworm carried by mosquitoes within. Fleas drive itching and skin disease, ticks must be killed quickly before they pass disease on, and heartworm is serious. Modern combination products handle fleas, ticks, heartworm and intestinal worms in a single dose, monthly or every few months.

Vaccination

Core vaccines for every dog: DHPP, against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and parainfluenza, and rabies. Puppies receive a series across their first months, finishing at sixteen weeks or later, a booster at a year, then boosters every one to three years. Parvovirus and distemper remain real dangers to an unvaccinated dog, and where stray dogs are common, rabies protection is essential.
